July 20, 2006 - Dinner with Governor Schwarzenegger and former President George H.W. Bush, aka "Papa Bush"
Fundraisers & Prop 89
Tonight, I attended a wonderful dinner for Governor Schwarzenegger hosted by the grande dame of the California Republican Party, Katie Boyd, at her beautiful home in Hillsborough. It was a lovely evening spent with friends and supporters of my campaign and meeting new people. I had the great fortune of having wonderful dinner companions-- the one and only Heidi Roizen of Mobius Venture Capital and her equally engaging husband, orthopedic oncologist, Dr. David Mohler. Heidi is a Silicon Valley icon in venture capital and is the incoming Chair for the National Venture Capital Association. Along with her work in investing in new technology, she and her husband deeply care about education issues and how they impact our future. We talked about everything from capital markets to Chinese language immersion programs to public education.
In the early part of the evening as we guests were arriving, there were organizers outside loudly voicing their support of Prop. 89, the so called “Clean Money” Initiative. I oppose Proposition 89. It is not a clean money initiative... in fact, it is the opposite. I do not believe in public and taxpayer financing of political campaigns, and I have no public union support for my campaign. Prop. 89 is an ill-conceived initiative. The links below illustrate this. To read the full stories, please click on the link below.
