June 23, 2006 - The California Capitol
The awesome Capitol and all it stands for
Growing up in Austin, Texas, the Capitol building was always a 20 minute drive from my home. I worked as a House and Senate page while I was in high school, and my college internship was with the Senate Finance Committee. No matter how many times I walked into the Capitol, I was in awe of the history that surrounded me and the history that would be made. I knew I was lucky to have the opportunities that were presented to me and that I was able to serve the public even as a page.
As an adult, I was still in awe as I walked into the California State Capitol to meet with Assemblyman George Plescia, Assembly Republican Leader. I was again in awe of the history that surrounded me and the history that would be made. This time, though, I am the candidate, someone who will be in a position to really serve the public and be accountable. What an awesome responsibility that is! To be able to represent almost half a million Californians is no small feat. I thought about the importance of really knowing who that representative of the people should be. Silicon Valley deserves the best leader. We need someone who will fight for us and continue to make AD 21 the envy of the world. On November 7, I will be the common sense choice, so voters can cast their votes for me.
